There are probably about 100 students, mostly boys talking about this new flick. I'm not blaming them, instead I'm supporting them. So what's with this flick? Transformers was a real hit in 2007, the year of the summer flops. Why is Transformers so awesome? There's no answer, it's natural. It's like asking "Why do living things drink water?" or "Why do we only make paper out of trees?" It's no wonder why this movie is much anticipated. So I wanted to make myself like this film and it was easily liked which explains why so many boys would want to watch it. Michael Bay
is directing this, the boys will just go to see Optimus Prime kick some *ss but movie critics will go because they are gonna get a Michael Bay movie. He just directed Friday The 13th
and it was a hit. Michael has done many good films like...
Bad Boys
The Island
and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
So there's definitely talent and skills but can he work his magic again because if this movie fails, not only will the fans be outraged but the producers will suffer a big loss. It's a gamble to make a movie with $200 million. This is similar to Night At The Museum
It cost $110 million to make and it grossed $571 million worldwide. That's a huge number which means it's profit was $461 million. Will it be the same fairytale for Transformers 2? Let's see the synopsis for this film. Sam Witwicky discovers something about the origins of the Transformers and their history on Earth after having visions of a remaining piece of the Allspark, which I thought was destroyed in the first film. The Decepticons need to capture him for information and kill him because of what he did to Megatron. Seriously, they need to give the robots more emotion than just awesome visual and special effects. Remember, just because it has awesome visuals and special effects, doesn't it will turn out well and an example is 10, 000 B.C. Now we thought this movie would be great but look at the outcome, it was a movie just full of special and visual effects but not even that can save the movie. So let's hope Transformers 2 isn't like that. The reason why Transformers 2 will do better is because it has a good plot and has interesting characters unlike other movies with boring characters and plots. A real, real perfect example was last year's Twilight which has a sequel this year, New Moon. I'll do a review on New Moon later this year. This movie pissed me off when it beat Slumdog Millionaire and Iron Man at the MTV movie awards. But let's go back to Transformers 2 and what Twilight problem that Transformers 2 might be comitting. There are just so many teen romance stories that it's kinda boring whether you add a supernatural twist or not. You can add a werewolf or a monster into a teen romance story and it still will be boring. Producers need to do something new but not only with this genre. Something that we the audience actually want to watch not a movie that you sit down, shut up for 2 hours, get up and leave with no emotion. So if Transformers 2 is like that, be careful because our movie future looks bad. So this features a string of Transformers. The Autobots include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jetfire, Arcee, Skids, Sideswipe, Jolt and Wheelie while the Decepticons have a revived Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Grindor, Scorponok, Demolisher, Sideways, Ejector and Scalpel. There are 19 Transformers while the humans have been cut down. In the last movie, it was an all-star cast but too many characters. This time, it seems more balanced. This time, the characters are Sam Witwicky, his parents, his girlfriend, the bad *ss special agent, the 2 military soldiers and the new characters are his room mate, a special agent from the U.K. and a college professor. The actors are also not bad, we have Shia Lebeouf, Megan Fox, John Turturo, Peter Cullen, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Hugo Weaving, Matthew Marsden and The Office's Rainn Wilson. So is there anything wrong with this movie? Will it fail us even though it seems that everything is o.k.? (to be continued...)
